YRHS courses are generally offered at the Academic/University Preparation Level of difficulty. These courses focus on the development of academic skills and knowledge and prepare students for entry to university. However, our teachers address student learning styles and incorporate practical applications as well as the theoretical as appropriate.
Academic Level courses may be enriched to suit the needs of above-average students who wish to study a subject in greater depth and/or breadth. These courses require of the student a considerable degree of initiative combined with a high level of performance.
Courses at the Applied/College entrance level may be offered in conjunction with parent support and the recommendations of the Special Education teacher and Principal.
Yitzhak Rabin High School works with the Independent Learning Centre of Ontario to provide our students with the opportunity to complete credit courses for which there might be insufficient demand to form a class or for other reasons, including the provision of enrichment opportunities. A qualified high school teacher is designated as the ILC Day School Facilitator and students are scheduled to meet with her on a regular basis to ensure their success in this program.
Yitzhak Rabin is offering Grade 9 Music (AMU1O) to Grade 8 students in the elementary school in the 2009-10 school year as an introductory Reach Ahead credit. Such courses enable students to obtain a full credit towards their diploma before being formally enrolled in a high school. The course is offered after school and will be taught by a qualified High School music teacher and supervised by the Principal of Yitzhak Rabin High School.
